The Myntkaup Story & Goals
Myntkaup was established in 2019 and launched its services in May 2020. The founders had set their goal to offer Icelanders a simple and secure way to invest in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. We want to ensure that Icelanders will be able to adopt cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology quickly so we can compete and compare to other nations in that regard.

Management Team
Patrekur is a computer scientist and a Bitcoin and Blockchain enthusiast. Patrekur founded Myntkaup because he felt the need for the population of Iceland to have a local platform to get educated as well as to invest in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Kjartan is an Attorney at Law and has been a part of the Myntkaup's team since beginning. He is a member of the board and of the company's shareholder. Kjartan has a significant experience of educating the public about Bitcoin, mostly in radio news and podcasts.
Magnús is an engineer with over 15 years of experience in the financial sector in risk and asset management. He was a part of the risk management team in Búnaðarbankinn and Kaupthing before taking over as head of the risk management team in Icebank. Later he worked for the return committee and the liquidation board when the bank entered liquidation proceedings. Magnús worked on asset management and was responsible for the financial management of the estate along with other projects.
